WELCOME TO

STUDENTS’ RECORDS AND INSTITUTIONAL RESEARCH OFFICE

THE OFFICE AND ITS ACTIVITIES

Students’ Records and Institutional research is one of the Units in Registry that oversees academic records of students. It is the custodian of all Undergraduate Students’ files, records of academic activities and archives. Records are service-oriented and online-based Unit. It demonstrates lots of interests in the welfare and achievements of its students and alumni even after graduation. Other major functions of the Office include processing of academic transcripts, verification of Certificates or statement of results or transcripts, issuance of letters of proficiency in English Language and certification of Certificates. Anyone inquiring of any of these services should kindly visit the University of Nigeria Website via http://alumni.unn.edu.ng. The procedure for getting any of these services is online and the process flow for iVerification requires that you have the following vital information handy:

  • Valid Email Address of Requesting Institution
  • Password
  • Full Name of requesting Institution
  • Mailing Address of requesting institution
  • City
  • Zip/Post Code
  • Country
  • Continent

The Unit follows up on the growth and development of its own and it is disposed at any time to confirm, verify, certify, clarify any certificate, statement of result or transcript issued by it to the alumni or on behalf of the alumni. The Office recommends the alumni for employment, scholarship and admission to other organizations and institutions.

It is only official requests for verification from Organisations, Institutions or Evaluators/Assessors that can be accepted and considered.

The procedure for obtaining a copy of your academic transcript via iTranscript is by following the instructions spelt out hereunder: Fill in your details accurately as required on the form, providing your personal details, contact information, destination of the transcript, and Matriculation number. For instance, if your matric number is 1999/123456, do not enter it as 96/123456, but enter it in full: 1999/123456. Please note that it is necessary to provide a valid and functional email address to receive status alerts on your request, and the tracking number for your selected courier after payment.

You can request for more than one transcript at the same time, but you will be charged per request. Official transcript is only sent to organizations and institutions at the request of the student concerned. However, a personal copy may be sent to a student on request but shall be boldly marked “Student copy, not for official use”. One can request for as many transcripts as possible, but any transcript addressed to one organization or institution cannot be used officially in another place.

In applying, please ensure that you read the guidelines on payment carefully and adhere to the instructions. The cost for transcript is dependent on the destination. You have an option to pay with either foreign or local currency. Online request for letter of proficiency in English Language is available at a prescribed amount. Please note that all payments for our services is via Remita.

INSTITUTIONAL RESEARCH

Records Office also gets involved in Institutional Research whenever there is need for information, reviews, or survey of impact of a new programme or study, on the life of students on campus. This is to ascertain the effects of such programmes on student’s behaviour and performance vis-à-vis a similar old programme or study. The Office is a reservoir of data and information needed by both the departments, faculties, and University in making projections and providing solutions to students’ problems and assisting the Administration on its day to day activities.

Students’ Records and Institutional Research Office is headed by a Deputy Registrar and supported by other administrative, executive, and secretarial staff.

Visit us at registrar@unn.edu.ng, unn-itranscript@unn.edo.ng or call any of these official numbers: 08168744236, 08151069609 and 09055397623.
